The Cathaoirleach of Monaghan County Council Seamus Coyle has been nominated to stand in the forthcoming election for the Seanad on the agricultural panel. The Dairy Executives’ Association of Ireland confirmed the selection of the Fianna Fáil representative in recent days.
He joins outgoing Monaghan Senator Robbie Gallagher (Labour panel) and Cavan Senator Diarmuid Wilson (Administrative panel) as candidates for the Seanad, along with the Cavan County Council Cathaoirleach, Cllr Shane P. O’Reilly (also Fianna Fáil). Cllr Coyle wrote last week to the general secretary of the Dairy Executives’ Association seeking a nomination.
