The monthly meeting of Monaghan Co Council saw Part VIII planning approval granted for the change of use of the former St Louis Chapel and Nursing Home buildings at the Convent Lands in Monaghan Town to community buildings. After a presentation on the proposals for the development of the former St Louis property which has been acquired by the local authority, Fine Gael councillor Alan Johnston acknowledged the contribution of the St Louis Sisters to Monaghan through the provision of education services since the 1850s.
