Castleblayney woman Tara Campbell has been appointed the Head of RTÉ Radio 1. RTÉ announced this week that Ms Campbell, who has been a producer on some of the broadcaster’s leading radio programmes, will take up the post with immediate effect. “Tara will have overall responsibility for the editorial leadership and programming of RTÉ Radio 1 and will play a critical role in the delivery of RTÉ’s five-year strategy, 2025 – 2029,” the broadcaster stated. Managing Editor of the station for the past five years, Ms Campbell started her career in RTÉ as a freelance continuity announcer on Radio One before becoming a producer on many of the most listened- to programmes on the station including the series producer role on Today with Sean O’Rourke.
