The usual schedule of festive season fundraisers and charity events raised thousands of euro over Christmas and New Year. The long-established Christmas Day swims at Emy Lake and Creevy Lake were back to their traditional format, with big attendances making both successful fundraisers for local causes. Carrickmacross Emmets’ annual swim has raised a remarkable sum this year of more than €30,000 to support local man Shuan Connolly, with the money set to go towards adapting his home and helping him fight Multiple sclerosis (Ms). the Emy lake swim, which is in its 66th year, is now being organised by Errigal Truagh Special Needs. Also on the agenda were several fun/charity matches, including at GAA clubs Monaghan Harps, Cremartin, Clones and Latton, although inclement weather led to Tyholland and Truagh having to adjust their plans…
