Funding of €600,000 provided to the HSE’s Disability Services will be used to bring about the opening of the Bothar Oirialla Group Home in Carrickmacross later this year, the members of Monaghan Co Council were informed on Monday. Correspondence forwarded to the Council from Cavan/Monaghan Fianna Fáil Senator Robbie Gallagher from the HSE indicated that Disability Services in the CHO or Community Healthcare Organisation 1 region, which includes Co Monaghan, would be “progressing the necessary requirements and arrangements to have the Bothar Oirialla Group Home operational in the latter half of the year.”
The protracted delay in the opening of the facility has been highlighted at meetings of the Co Council and the Carrickmacross- Castleblayney Municipal District over recent years. The HSE informed Senator Gallagher that the completion of some remedial works, which had been identified and costed, had to take place before the facility, which will cater for people with physical and sensory….
