Magheracloone’s senior footballers have racked up the miles in the last 12 months or so, from travelling to neighbouring clubs and counties for training and home games to trekking around Ulster for their successful provincial campaign. This Saturday sees them make their club’s historic first trip to Croke Park for the AIB All-Ireland Club IFC Final against Oughterard of Galway.
Magheracloone’s turbulent end to 2018 has been well documented – with the mine collapse in the area cutting right through their pitch and robbing them of their facilities, despite the later opening of a temporary training field – but nine straight championship wins has the Mitchells dreaming of a maiden national title and their supporters enjoying a most welcome distraction.
