“Monaghan County Council calls on the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Katherine Zappone TD, the Minister for Finance and Public Expenditure, Paschal Donohoe TD, and the Insurance Reform Minister, Michael D’Arcy TD, to engage with all insurance providers in this State, and throughout the EU, to find those willing to cover insurance for childcare providers.
In the absence of an insurer willing to enter the market specifically for childcare/creche facilities, we call on Government to legislate for a State-run insurer to offer cover for the vital service offered by private and community childcare providers in this State.”
The above motion of urgent business was tabled by Sinn Féin members at Monday’s meeting of Monaghan County Council regarding the need for competition in the childcare insurance market. It was subsequently unanimously…
