Clones Town Council members are prepared to fight to keep the Ulster Final in St Tiernach’s Park.
Amid fears that the final will be moved to Casement Park, Belfast members agreed on Monday evening to organise a meeting with representatives from the local GAA club to discuss how funding can be obtained to develop St Tiernach’s Park.
Discussion arose when Independent councillor Peter McAleer commented that he had read a number of reports in national papers after the Ulster Final where the writers had high praise for the Clones venue and some had expressed the belief that the final should remain in St Tiernach’s Park.
