Councillor PJ O’Hanlon proposed that the Carrickmacross/ Castleblayney Municipal District (MD) take money out of its own resources to completely re-align the layout of Steadfast junction to make it safer, as several roads feed into it and a school child from St. Joseph’s Boys’ National School was knocked down crossing the Dundalk Road some months ago. The Fianna Fáil representative has raised the issue of safety on that junction repeatedly and was very disappointed that a pedestrian crossing wasn’t approved in the Low Cost Safety Improvement Scheme for 2018.
