Significant funding for the Patrick Kavanagh Centre in Inniskeen and for the redevelopment of the former Post Office building in Clones was announced by Minister for Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs Heather Humphreys in Cavan on Monday.

The allocations were part of a €9 million arts and culture capital scheme outlined by Minister Humphreys in Cavan Town Hall.

The Patrick Kavanagh Centre is being awarded €188,636 to allow for major structural refurbishment of the building, including re-roofing, re-wiring, new public toilets and improvements to the car parking facilities.

The old Post Office in Clones will receive a grant of €144,077 to allow for it to be redeveloped as an arts studio and community hub.

More detail on the Monaghan projects to benefit can be read in our Carrickmacross and Clones News pages in this edition.
