Members of the organising committee behind the McCabe twins fundraiser this week presented a cheque for €7,500 to The Holy Family School in Cootehill.

As previously reported in The Northern Standard, five-year old Francis and Maeve McCabe, who are son and daughter of Kate and Kevin McCabe from Avelreagh, Clontibret, suffer a host of medical problems. They attend The Holy Family School and the money presented to the school was part of the proceeds from a very successful fundraising dance, which took place in The Glencarn Hotel, Castleblayney, at the beginning of February.

Speaking to The Northern Standard, organising committee member Sean Mulligan extended sincere thanks to everybody who had supported the recent fundraiser. Sean said that the committee had set a target of €50,000 which was exceeded due to the generosity of the people who donated.

“We are very grateful to everybody who supported this fundraiser as this money will make a difference to the lives of the twins and also to the lives of their parents,” said Sean.

The last of the fundraising for the McCabe twins will take the form of a vintage run, which has been organised by Monaghan Vintage Club. The run, which will take place on Sunday, 24th April, will start at Clontibret Community Centre.

For anybody wishing to make a donation, the McCabe twins fund will remain open until after the vintage run. Details of it can be found on the McCabe Twins Fundraising page on Facebook.
