Sinn Fein Cllr. Noel Keelan, addressing yesterday’s meeting of Carrickmacross/Castleblayney Municipal District, slammed the recent spate of illegal dumping in and around Carrickmacross as “totally unacceptable”.
He was glad to report that there had been some evidence gathered from abandoned rubbish.
The accompanying pictures, taken by photographer Pat Byrne — of bin bags at Aghalile Road, Carrickmacross and tyres at Capragh, Donaghmoyne — perfectly illustrate Cllr. Keelan’s comments.
At last month’s meeting Fianna Fail Cllr. Padraig McNally expressed fears that the prevalence of illegal dumping would only be exacerbated by the introduction of Pay Per Weight waste disposal in July 2016.
