A nine months old baby from County Monaghan has had a life-saving heart transplant in London and is now recovering in hospital in Dublin. The family of Jessica Hall from Corcaghan have expressed their thanks to all those who helped by their donations and in any other way to make her operation possible and also to the medical teams involved.
Jessica’s parents Elaine and Stephen said after a long time in intensive care, Jessica was now back at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin . Asked about their emotions following the operation at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital they said: “Over the moon with excitement is an understatement”. They described how their baby girl had come on in leaps and bounds since her life-saving operation thanks to one very special donor. Without this donated organ Jessica would still be fighting a race against time, but the time was right for Jessica and her miracle came at the right time, the couple said. This is how they summed up their relief at Jesssica’s progress:
“A new journey, a new beginning and a new life. All our hopes and dreams have now come true for our daughter. A little inspiration to us who never ever gave up. We stuck by Jessica through the times she fought for her life. At times she literally battled with every beat of her heart. After being on the transplant list for six months and one week, and being on a life support machine for almost eight months, all that hard battling has paid off.
