Months ago we brought you Brendan McCahey’s story so far and now The Northern Standard is delighted to report that he is a finalist in The Voice of Ireland.
Fresh from his semi-final winning performance on Easter Sunday night, the Magheracloone man, now living in Shercock, set its athletics track alight with delight when he made an appearance there on Tuesday afternoon.
The RTÉ cameras were there too, and while they were a little later than scheduled, Brendan proved to be well worth waiting for.
Mentor Bressie proved to be a man of few words, but he urged everyone to vote for the most talented contestant the show had ever seen, adding that Brendan was a credit to the locality.
Voting details will not be revealed until all the acts have sang on The Voice of Ireland on Sunday evening.
If strength of spirit, character and talent has anything to do with it Brendan has got it in the bag.
No man, woman or child went away from Tuesday afternoon’s event disappointed as Brendan was happy to pose for limitless photographs and sign countless autographs. Everybody wanted a piece of him and he was good enough to oblige.
He is a truly humble gentleman. And as ever, his wife Marion was by his side.
