The Newbaze plant in Carrickmacross has been put up for sale by the company, it emerged this week. The information was communicated to the members of the Carrickmacross- Castleblayney Municipal District at their meeting on Tuesday in correspondence from Cavan/Monaghan TD and Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise Niamh Smyth. “An agent has been appointed to support the sale process,” the Minister of State said. “Enterprise Ireland have been supporting the company and the potential sale of the plant by making enquiries with, and facilitating introductions to, potential buyers.” The correspondence, in response to a proposal from MD Cathaoirleach Councillor P J O’Hanlon seeking the up-to- date position with the Newbaze operation, engendered lengthy discussion at the meeting (see full report next week).
