Former Minister Heather Humphreys needs no introduction and given that she decided to retire last year before the election, it seemed fitting that her contribution to her home county be acknowledged. Having stepped back from elected life at the highest level and the hectic schedule that goes with it, she looked great in a classic black dress with her husband Eric in a tuxedo for the black tie 2024 Farney Foundation County Monaghan People of the Year gala awards, which took place on Saturday night, February 22nd in the Hillgrove Hotel.
The former public representative was nominated alongside 11 other finalists, who all received individual awards. Heather Humphreys was named the 2024 Farney Foundation County Monaghan Person of the Year as the official part of proceedings ended. She reacted to the news with shock: “Thank you so much! I am actually speechless, because there have been so many people nominated that I feel would be much more worthy of this award than I am. Thank you, I certainly was not expecting it. ”
As the overall winner, Heather received a beautiful crystal vase to commemorate the occasion. The result was determined by a combination of public votes and a panel of judges.
