The years of waiting for a CCTV surveillance system to be installed in the centre of Monaghan Town should come to an end by October of this year. The coming through of the formal sign-off on the scheme in the past week was welcomed at Monday’s meeting of the Monaghan Municipal District. MD Co-ordinator Donal McElwain confirmed that final authorisation from the Garda Commissioner for the system’s installation had been received. But the Co-ordinator pointed out that much work was still required to get the system installed.
