The Funeral Mass took place this, Thursday morning at St Patrick’s Church, Corracrin of Owen McKenna (Hughie), Drumgeeny, Emyvale, who died after being struck by a van on the N2 on Wednesday evening, October 26 last. Mr McKenna was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda following the accident and passed away there on Friday last. He is survived by his wife Carol, children Eamon, Sean, Martina, Eugene, Nigel and Carol; brother Harry; grandchildren, and extended family. Gardaí have appealed to witnesses to the incident, which took place in the Drumgeeny area, to come forward. Sympathy with Mr McKenna’s family was expressed at Tuesday’s meeting of Monaghan Co Council.
