The “incredible achievement in public service” by Carrickmacross Fine Gael local public representative Mary Kerr-Conlon has been acknowledged by her party leader Leo Varadkar TD. Councillor Kerr-Conlon announced her retirement as a member of Monaghan Co Council at Monday’s meeting of the local authority. In her resignation letter she stated that it was “time to pass the mantle on” and declared that she had “thoroughly enjoyed every moment working for and on behalf of the people of Monaghan and particularly the Carrickmacross-Castleblayney Municipal District”.
She won a Co Council seat at the 2019 local government elections, having previously served her party as an elected member of the town authority in Carrickmacross from 1992 until 2014, when Town Councils were abolished under local administration reforms and replaced by the Municipal District structure.
