MONAGHAN GARDEN DESIGNER WINS SILVER AT BORD BIA BLOOM

On the opening morning of Bord Bia Bloom in the Phoenix Park in Dublin, Monaghan garden designer, Benny Magennis received a Silver medal for The Minions Garden sponsored by Universal Pictures at this year’s event. Based in Co Monaghan, Benny Magennis is heavily involved in the creative art and visual industry across Ireland. He works through a variety of mediums, from product and furniture design to realising concept installations for public spaces and brands, as well as set design and activation for festivals and events.

Benny graduated from the National School of Furniture in London in 2011 and has served as a member of the Design & Craft Council of Ireland. He describes his style as fun, imaginative and thoughtful. The Minions Garden is Benny’s first show garden for Bord Bia Bloom and celebrates the release of Minions: The Rise of Gru in Irish cinemas. It brings the colourful nostalgia of Gru’s childhood – when he first met his iconic Minions – to life.

Three first-time show garden designers were awarded gold medals for outstanding garden design, this included Niall Deacon for his Eureka Garden sponsored by Solus Light Bulbs; Sean Russell’s National Dairy Council Sustainable Dairy Farm Garden and Seán O’Malley and Oisín Griffin for the Peter McVerry…
