A further investment of €50,000 at Rossmore Forest Park in Monaghan Town has been announced by Minister for Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys TD. The funding comes as part of a new five-year strategic partnership between Minister Humphreys’ Department and Coillte which is geared towards boosting rural tourism. The Rossmore funding will go towards the upgrade of the amenity’s toilet block.
€200,000 is also being provided to open a new access point and install a new car park to serve Deerpark Forest in Co Cavan. “Our forest parks, walking and cycling trails and upland areas are what makes Rural Ireland stand out,” Minister Humphreys stated when announcing the funding. “Right across the country, people of all ages reap the benefits of these unique natural amenities on a daily basis.
