MONAGHAN CHURCH LEADERS UNITE IN PLEA FOR RETURN TO WORSHIP

Protestant, Methodist and Pentecostal Church leaders in Monaghan have come together in a call on the Government to reconsider the closure of places of worship under Covid-19 restrictions. In an open letter to their church members and the wider community of Monaghan, the church leaders say they are “baffled and dismayed” at the continuing closure of churches for all but private worship and emphasise the approach of Easter and their desire to appropriately celebrate “the foundational moment within the Christian faith.”

The open letter is signed by Rev Chancellor Ian Berry (Monaghan Group of Parishes, Church of Ireland); Rev Neil McMullan (Elim Pentecostal Church, Monaghan); Rev Stephen McNie (Ballyalbany & Glennan Presbyterian Churches, Monaghan); Rev. Alan McQuade (First Monaghan & Smithborough Presbyterian Churches), and Rev Ken Robinson (Methodist Church, Monaghan).
