Togoville’s record at the venue for owner Patrick McCann, trainer Anthony McCann and jockey Conor McGovern. Having made it a ‘lucky 13’ wins at Dundalk Stadium the previous week, 11-year-old Togoville added to that list by holding off nearest challengers Jered Maddox and Oh Purple Reign in the ‘Join Us On Instagram @dundalk_stadium’ Handicap last Friday.
It made for another successful evening at Ireland’s only all-weather racecourse for trainer Anthony McCann of Shabra fame and Clones jockey Conor McGovern, who guided the 4/1 joint-favourite to a third win in as many weeks. Anthony McCann told Gary Carson of irishracing.com: “I don’t know what to say about him after that. Conor gets on very well with him. I couldn’t believe how well he was on the gallops.
Four weeks ago, we nearly lost him here as he colicked in the yard and we had to lunge him between races.” “I don’t know what the key is with him, but I’d love to find out as I’d get it for the rest of them! I’m very happy for Patrick McCann (owner) and I have to thank all the support I have in the yard. I didn’t plan to run, because it was six furlongs and he was carrying that extra weight, but there wasn’t another race until the ‘awards day’ on April 18 for him.
