Councillor Conlon makes call on Coillte to step up to the mark with additional funding
Rossmore Forest Park in Monaghan Town is now the second most visited of Coillte’s local forests in the country, according to information released by the forestry authority this week. “Some forests like the Dublin Mountains, Rossmore in Monaghan and Donadea in Kildare have experienced doubling or tripling of visitor numbers during the Covid-19 lockdown,” Coillte CEO Imelda Hurley stated.
“The Dublin Mountains, of which Ticknock Forest accounts for the majority, is the most visited, followed by Rossmore Forest Park in Co Monaghan and Donadea Forest Park in Co Kildare.” Coillte said that there have been 2.2 million visits to its local forest parks since 2020.
