• COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS A FACTOR IN PRESSURE ON SERVICES SAYS BUS ÉIREANN
Bus Éireann has said that restrictions on capacity arising from Government regulations to stop the spread of Covid-19 are a factor in issues that have arisen with their Monaghan services. Complaints have escalated in the last week about passengers being unable to access buses at the Monaghan station because they are already filled to existing capacity when they arrive at the local depot, even though some prospective travellers have pre-booked their tickets online.
Sinn Féin TD for Cavan/Monaghan Matt Carthy said this week that he had raised the issue with Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan TD. The Green Party leader has also been written to on the matter by local Green activist Tate Donnelly. Aontú in Monaghan has also called for the rising tide of complaints about the Monaghan service to be addressed by Bus Éireann.
