The HSE has been asked to explain why a long awaited and badly needed group home facility for people with physical and sensory disabilities in Carrickmacross remains unopened – with no indication of when it is to be brought into use.
The situation was branded “an embarrassment to the people of Carrickmacross and the people of Co Monaghan” by Fianna Fáil local public representative P J O’Hanlon at Monday’s meeting of Monaghan Co Council.
Sinn Féin’s Colm Carthy, who has been raising the issue on a monthly basis at Co Council level over recent years, proposed that the local authority contact the HSE to find out exactly what the difficulties in relation to opening…
