The Northern Standard recently caught up with Fiona Hanratty, Manager of Carrickmacross Community Childcare located in the town’s workhouse, and her colleague, Karen Hourigan, who attended the recent National Early Years Protest in Dublin. The following interviews took place immediately before the country went to the polls.
Manager of Carrickmacross Community Childcare Fiona Hanratty was amazed that 30,000 people came out to make a stand for the sector, she compared the size of the crowd to that of the mini-marathon. However, she expressed disappointment that there was minimal coverage of the event on the TV news.
Nonetheless, Fiona was pleased that she had made the decision to close the service for the day and attend the protest with her colleagues. She also pledged that the service would continue to take part in protests…
