INTERCONNECTOR OBJECTORS TO CHALLENGE PARTIES OVER PYLONS PLAN

The North East Pylon Pressure Campaign says a large attendance is expected at a public meeting next week to highlight what it says is continuing farce of the North- South interconnector electricity plans and policies. The group says it is still a major issue for communities in the North-East and with a general election about to be held, it is asking the political parties for their policies on the future of the project. The County Monaghan Anti Pylon Committee has drawn up a list of six questions for landowners and concerned residents to ask political representatives when they knock on the door during their election canvassing.

A statement from the group said: “NEPPC is having a preelection public meeting on Wednesday 29th January in the Headfort Arms hotel at 8:30 pm. The proposed interconnector remains an issue of huge contention and concern for the many communities across the North-East that could be blighted by a line of 400 pylons.
