RESIDENTS in the Donaghmoyne area of South Monaghan have united in a firm protest campaign to prevent environmental upset as a result of route corridor options proposed in the Ardee-Castleblayney N2 road scheme, which involves changes to the existing road. Residents, including several landowners insist that an unacceptable N2 route change could prove disastrous for the local community, disrupting existing links between dwellings, cause access chaos for families, and while ruining some farms, would also destroy a natural Donaghmoyne habitat.
Initially, a public meeting called to discuss the situation facing the residents on Monday 11th November last attracted a record attendance more that 250 people but, as an indication of the groundswell of concern now rampant in the community, a further public information meeting on Tuesday night last totally packed St. Michael’s Community Centre in Donaghmoyne, reflecting the extent of the importance of….
