The proprietor of a Newbliss-based meat trading company indicated this week that he is taking legal action against the ABP Food Group for assertions made publicly by ABP during the outbreak of the horsemeat scandal in February last.
Martin McAdam of McAdam Food Products Limited will allege defamation and loss of business in his action, and has served notice of High Court proceedings on the group, which formerly owned the Silvercrest plant in Ballybay.
Mr McAdam will make the case that ABP deliberately made “false and malicious allegations” about him and his meat trading business to deflect media attention when ABP were at the centre of horsemeat scandal.
