A presentation was made to Councillor Padraig McNally at Monday’s meeting of Monaghan County Council, on the occasion of his retirement from the Local Authority after 34 years and after ten successfully contested elections, four of which were at town level.
The Carrickmacross-based Fianna Fáil representative said that it was a day of mixed emotions for him. His colleagues in the chamber were glowing in their tributes to him and it was clear, that the party and council in general, had both benefitted greatly from his input over the years. His hometown of Carrickmacross and the wider county had also benefitted from his wisdom and experience, the meeting heard.
Cathaoirleach David Maxwell said that he had proposed, through the Corporate Policy Group, that every councillor who had served a full-term of five years on the council or longer, would receive a presentation…
