a 20km Challenge is being organised for Saturday 8th June 2019 starting at 10am as part of Knockatallon Community hooley in the heather annual Festival. Proceeds from this event will be going to Suicide Prevention charities within the area and to the local community development to complete works at the playground and picnic area in the village.
Suicide Prevention Charities play a very important role within our community in providing a range of responsive and effective supports to anyone affected by depression or suicide. The 20km walk is graded as moderately difficult through the beautiful Sliabh Beagh Mountain area with its blanket bog, numerous lakes and panoramic views of Monaghan, Tyrone and Fermanagh.

As with all endurance events of this nature, it is essential that all participants on the Challenge have suitable clothing, footwear and equipment to wear on the walk. Water stations will be available at check in points on the Challenge, but it is advisable that you bring your own along. The walk will be way marked with flags and arrows allowing participants proceed at their own pace.
Parking will be at the Sliabh Beagh Hotel & Tourism Centre, Knockatallon, Co. Monaghan. The Challenge walk will start and finish at the Hotel. There will be a timed clock if you wish to test yourself, if not, just set your own goal and enjoy the scenery. Teams of five can enter, with prizes for the first team / fastest man & woman home. Refreshments will be served at the half way point and afterwards in the Sliabh Beagh Hotel. Registration is open now on Eventbrite for Individuals and Teams. Don’t forget to add your T-Shirt to…
