“Rural Ireland’s not dead!” — say Ministers Ring, Humphreys and Canney

Minister Michael Ring visited Castleblayney last Thursday evening, to reveal the successful schemes nationwide which would benefit from a €62 million Government giveaway under the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund, which falls under the umbrella of Project Ireland 2040.

One could feel the love in the room for local Minister Heather Humphreys, who not only brought the announcement to her constituency, but funding for Castleblayney, Carrrickmacross, Clones, Ballybay and Cootehill on Valentine’s Day.

Minister of State for Rural Affairs and Natural Resources Seán Canney was also present. “Rural Ireland is not dead,” was the clear message of the day and it was reiterated by all three TDs, who are country people themselves. An investment of €2,138,560 in Castleblayney Enterprise Centre was the major local news of the day, but other towns were not found wanting either with Clones receiving a total of €702,250 (which will be split between Clones Regeneration….
