Rossmore Golf Club was en fete on Sunday night last with the world and his mother there to shake the hand of the man who ran Rossmore ragged and who proved yet again that while form is temporary, class is permanent.
John Heffernan won the Captain’s Prize in 2008. This year he recaptured some of his lustre of old to beat the best of the rest in a fantastic competition which did amateur golf in this neck of the woods proud. Congratulations to all and sundry who backed John at the bookies. Commisserations to those who have left the turf accountant’s shop and are heading for MABS this week.
I presume John’s triumph in the Captain’s Prize at Rossmore left y’all breaking out the last of the summer wine with your winnings.
