Monaghan Fianna Fáil Councillor Seamus Coyle has been unanimously elected as the new Cathaoirleach of the Northern and Western Regional Assembly at their annual general meeting in Ballaghadreen, Co. Roscommon. The NWRA has 25 members from nine regional authorities, ranging from Monaghan, Cavan and Donegal to Galway, Galway City, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon and Sligo. The regional body is responsible for delivering key components of the National Planning Framework and ensuring investment priorities are aligned across the region. The Northern and Western Regional Assembly was established in January 2015 and has come to the forefront of national and regional policy through the introduction of the National Planning Framework.
