Monaghan’s senior footballers will attempt to join the county’s minors in an All-Ireland semi-final when they take on Galway in their decisive ‘Super 8s’ series game at Pearse Stadium on Saturday evening. Monaghan appeared to have one foot in the county’s first All-Ireland SFC semi-final since 1988 when they led Kerry in added time in Clones the week before last, but a late goal from David Clifford means the second qualification berth in Group 1 is set to go down to the wire.
