THE NORTHERN STANDARD received confirmation from the HSE yesterday afternoon that Ballybay Community Crèche was closed earlier in the day after a “number of linked cases of VTEC infection” — a form of what is commonly termed E. coli had been detected at the facility. The crèche will remain closed pending screening of all children and staff for possible VTEC (the short for verotoxigenic E. coli) infection, and the HSE has also confirmed that the closure was put in place….
