Monday’s meeting of Monaghan County Council was informed by Patricia Monahan, Acting Director of Services for Infrastructure and Operations, that she, Chief Executive Eamonn O’Sullivan and Area Engineer John Lennon, had met with their counterparts in Louth County Council and Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) on Tuesday, 29th August to discuss the detailed safety review of the existing N2, which was recently undertaken by the local authority and carried out by Roadplan Consulting.
The report, presented to the Council by Mr. Dermot Donovan, was central to the decision to fund the road. It indicated that a 2+1 would be at or above capacity by the time it was built (based on projected traffic levels) and thus a 2+2 road layout was recommended instead.
