The Managing Director of one of Monaghan’s biggest employers, Combilift, has said he hopes the free movement of people across the border with Northern Ireland will remain following the UK’s proposed withdrawal from the European Union.
Martin McVicar was speaking at the launch of the Tydavnet Show on Tuesday (see report on p.11). Mr McVicar said he had grown up in Clara at the top end of north Monaghan. Because of the border and the difficulty in crossing into Tyrone and Fermanagh, he said he had no friends in the North when he was young.
