F.F. LEADER’ PLEA TO TAOISEACH IN CALL FOR PROBE INTO CARRICK ROAD DEATH

THE saga which has continued over the necessity for a full investigation into all the circumstances of the tragic death of a young South Monaghan law student in a hit-and-run—while he was cycling, near Carrickmacross more than five years ago—-has led to a further call by Fianna Fáil leader Micheal Martin T.D., to An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny T.D., for a Commission of Inquiry to be set up to probe the fatality.
It was confirmed that the Fianna Fáil leader has written directly to the Taoiseach, urging him to establish the Commission into the killing, by a man with 49 previous convictions.

Shane O’Farrell, 23, was fatally injured on August 2, 2011, while cycling on the N2, between Carrickmacross and Castleblayney.

The driver, a Lithuanian, who failed to stop at the scene, was later arrested by gardai and the vehicle recovered. It emerged at the sentencing of Zigimantas Gridzuiska, two years later, who faced charges of failing to stop at the scene, or to….
